Well I'm about a week into my 3rd round of antibiotics and I am FINALLY feeling much better. That pneumonia really knocked me to the ground and it took me quite awhile to get back on my feet again. The doctor said I'll continue to feel a bit sluggish for a month or so more because I tested positive for the Epstein-Barr virus which is linked to mono (the kissing disease). My batteries aren't at full power yet but they are definitely better than they have been in a month. I plan on FINALLY going back to the gym tomorrow. I decided I needed to give my body a break and allow it to heal so I really haven't done much exercise since I got sick but I think it's time I start again.
Speaking of exercise, I did participate in the Walk to End Alzheimers yesterday at a nearby park. I decided on the 2 mile course and actually was about 10th to finish out of several hundred people. Granted, it wasn't a race but at least I was able to keep up. It was for a great cause and I had a good time walking with friends who joined me.
My eating slipped a little the past few days I do admit but I corrected it today. It started Friday; my aunt who I take shopping everyother Friday took me out for lunch. I make a relatively healthy choice - 1 grilled chicken breast, and my sides were roasted vegetables and some baked sweet potato fries but my day all fell apart so to speak when I decided to join my friends for a girls night at a local bar & grill. The place we went really didn't boast it's healthy options so I had to make due. I orders a chicken sandwich (grilled breast, cheese, 2 slices bacon and onion tanglers) and fries. On top of that I drank several glasses of diet Pepsi and did indulge in 1 beer. Saturday wasn't much better.. after the Alzheimers walk a bunch of us went to another bar and grill and I ended up ordering a Cuban (shaved pork, swiss cheese and pickles) and fries again. This time I had unsweetened ice tea but with all that sodium I blew up like a balloon. I'm up to 289 which is 4 pounds heavier than I was on Wednesday. I know in my head that there is no way I ate 14,000 extra calories in that time but it still makes me cringe to see that number again. I drank alot of water today, ate alot of veggies and fruits and really focused on limiting my sodium intake.
Non weight loss related news is that my car broke down!! Grr! My dad was borrowing it since it has been gas mileage than his big truck. He calls me and tells me that that the water heat light came on and that there was smoke under the hood ( I think Oh, $hit) He takes it into our mechanic and he tells me the head gasket was cracked and oil leaked into the antifreeze and some other mechanic lingo and that to fix my car it's going to be $1500 (I think Oh $hit again) I tell my dad I can't afford that in one lump sum but thankfully I have the most wonderful dad in the universe and says he'll pay off the bill and I can make payments to him. God bless him! I'm still driving a rental (it's been over a week since my car broke down) and can't wait to get my car back! Crossing my fingers other else major goes wrong with it. It's a 2007 Grand Prix and I really like the car. It hasnt given me any trouble up until now which I suppose was bound to happen but the only thing that really gets me is that I just had the car in for a check up and the same mechanic found no signs of the head gasket cracking then.
Oh well, the joys of car ownership.
