Bad day turn around

Sunday, September 15, 2013

Did you ever have one of those days? Yeah, I know you have too.

Actually the day got off to a great start (coffee, hot tub, breakfast) but it went South really quick. My first project was to finish painting my bathroom floor. As I was clearing stuff so I could clean the floor, my triangular sea glass jar filled with marbles crashed and broke all over the floor. As I was cleaning it up, one teeny tiny chard of glass poked the end of my finger. I got it out easy enough but I thought I was going to bleed to death! (okay, maybe a bit of exaggeration) It bled for 20 minutes, dripped all over the floor. I finally got the mess cleaned up and decided to skip on that project.

So, I go outside to sit on the lawn swing and enjoy the breeze with DH and Bad Leroy Brown. Well, Leroy sees a deer in the neighbors yard, jumps down and takes off down the driveway. (The deer is on the other side of the fence, so Leroy's not in danger.) But, when I pick him up, he is covered . . . and I do mean COVERED . . . with burrs. A gazillion at least.

This is what a sweet little burr-magnet looks like:

After a couple hours of post-burr grooming, he was finally burr-free again.

Then we started working on the pond. Plans have been evolving for 3 or 4 months now, and we've changed the plans so many times, it's become a real headache. We finally decided to arrange for a backhoe to come in later this week and just get it done.

DH and I were both at wits end. Not at each other, just the day in general! We looked at each other and said "Let's go for a ride!"

So off we went . . .

PS DH just tried to heat a quart jar of water in the micro . . . and the bottom of the jar blew out and flooded everything!!! "What's with this day?"

Oh, it''s always refreshing to hear that other people experience bad days. Ours was the attempt to make grape jelly from an over-abundance of grapes on our vine for the first time ever. After a week of cleaning, boiling, straining, and sterilizing, our jelly is still liquid. Not only that, but our kitchen countertops are now faintly purple. Maybe it's time to paint the kitchen to match!@#$%^%$#@

    Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I agree, a ride makes a bad attitude better! It is my happy place--as long as I am on country roads!

Oh this one certainly made me smile! Guess that that jar was not microwavable! Ha!
Also, loved the saying about the bad attitude being like a flat tire...True!
Hugs! (and yes, we all have those kind of days) (smile)

Wow - what a day. Leroy didn't look even slightly chastened in the picture with the burrs. I've been reading quite a bit lately about glass shattering in either the microwave or the oven, but so far it hasn't happened here. Glad no one was hurt.

I have a saying I use. A DFH--A Day From Hell. Sounds like you had one of those. Some days are just like that--just a DFH. BUT sounds like you tried to make the most of it and sometimes that is all you can do. Or just throw your hands up and say to hell with it and go do something you truly love. And sounds like you did!

Here's to better days. Well let's say overall, everything considered, better days:-)

Usually riding can erase all the troubles of a day! Hope it helped end your day with a smile so you could just shrug off that quart jar breaking.

Those are the days I say, 'I should have just stayed in bed!" ............. emoticon Of course, w/ all that, it might have been the day the phone rang off the hook OR the ceiling above the bed leaked!! emoticon ...... Cute pics!!
