On Any Given Sunday...

Sunday, September 15, 2013

That movie title is a misnomer. It's not ANY given Sunday, but any given Sunday in the fall... FOOTBALL! It's actually Saturdays that are more exciting to me, cause I loves me some college football... but I won't pass up a good NFL game, either. Unfortunately for dh, he isn't much of a football fan. We compromise by watching the games on mute. I don't need to hear the announcers to know what's going on, and it's easy for him to ignore it. Although "his team" {I say "his team" because he doesn't really care, but if he has to care, he likes the Saints} won their game tonight, so he didn't mind watching that one.

Anyway, on to more related topics...

I sit here, at the tail end of a day... and say... Good job, Cat! I woke up on time and went to the park to meet The Buddy. {Okay, I was 5 minutes late. But close!} It was a lovely morning for walking, especially if you like sunshine. I don't, but I can recognize a nice day when I see one. So we met up and headed for the track. I was a little creaky and probably needed some WD-40 on my parts, but we managed to walk 22 minutes. Okay... *I* managed to walk 22 minutes. The Buddy could've kept right on going. But anyway... goal 1 accomplished!

I've stayed within my calories today, even including breakfast at McD's. Since I had a bigger breakfast, I was able to have a lighter lunch, and make it til dinner. At dinner I did the unthinkable... I measured and ate a proper serving of pasta! Okay, technically I had 1.5 servings because I had the calories to spare. But compared to the 3 or 4 cups I would have eaten otherwise, DEFINITE victory. I also measured the sauce, and then bulked the whole thing up with a can of diced tomatoes. I had a salad with it, and when I was done, I was comfortably full. It was a good lesson to teach my body, that I don't have to have half a box of pasta to enjoy a pasta dinner.

Other than cleaning up the kitchen and living room, walking and making food are the only things I accomplished today. Sunday's are always the worst day of the week for me. I'm always bored, and yet somehow incapable of accomplishing anything fruitful. I basically just sit around and languish until it's time to wake dh up. I hate being alone. {I know, I need to work on it. And I am. My therapist has been made aware of the situation.} Once dh is awake, Sunday ceases to suck. Which is odd, cause we don't do anything... we just sit here. I really need to work on my co-dependency. {Therapy is on Tuesdays.}

In other news... we still have the kitty. Despite my best efforts at posting on Facebook and messaging or texting everyone I know in an attempt to find a home for her, my efforts have thus far failed. The lady that originally told dh she wanted her will be at work tomorrow, and we're hoping she was serious when she said that. If not... well, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For right now, I'm just happy to know she's safe and well fed and content. She's such a sweet girl. If anyone has any spare fingers, please cross them that the lady dh works with will take her and give her a good home.

And I guess that's about it for today. Hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday!

    Going for a walk when you don't really feel like it = major triumph. Measuring out pasta = even bigger triumph. I bulk up my portion with veggies, too. I buy big bags of frozen italian veggies and then throw a couple of cups into my pasta portion (husband always winces at this sacrilege). But that way I get a big bowl and a whole lot of vegetables, too!

    Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I feel better knowing that I am not the only one who has to admit that I tend to be codependent. It's also good to know that I'm not the only female who watches more sports than her significant other. I enjoy college football more than the pros, too. But my absolute favorite sport is baseball. It's the end of the season and I'm already going through withdrawals.

    You did a great job today!!! I'm so happy for you, woohoo!! The Parrot Head motto is party with a purpose. We have 1 business meeting a month where we decide what we will do the next month and upcoming events. The other is our "social". We get together, have a few adult beverages an have fun. This Sat. is our big fund raiser for the year here. We are having a meet and greet Friday night at the Lazy Pirate restaurant. We will have a couple drinks and have fun. Sat. morning is Beach Sweep. We are meeting and going to the beach and pick up anything that doesn't belong on the beach, cig butts, plastic, whatever. Saturday night we will go back to the Lazy Pirate. One of the members is a dj on the side - Jolly Man Da DJ. He will take care of the music. There will be silent auction on baskets full off tropical goodies. Just a good time. We pick a charity to give the proceeds to. In Iowa, the group is really big. Their big fundraiser is in February. They are going to pay for an Honor Flight for veterans.
    Hope you have a really great Monday. Keep up the good work!!
