Another fantastic weekend in the books
Last year around this time my hubby and I did a 5K. It was my first 5K in several years and I ran/walked it, just like the one before. I blogged about it here www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
Today we did the exact same race and boy oh boy what a difference a year makes!! This years goals were to
run the entire course and to finish in less time than last year. Bonus goal was to finish at 42 minutes or less. My time for my 5K in June was 42:50 so I was hoping to do better than that. It was a great day for a race, weather wise. I didn't get off to a good start though. I started out a little fast than I wanted to and my music quit after the first song. I'm glad I have trained with and without music. Otherwise it would have made for a very long 3 miles. Instead I sang in my head, made a grocery list and thought about all that I have accomplished since the last time I was on this course.
I am happy to say that I ran the entire course
and finished in less time than last year.
And while I did not finish in less than 42 minutes I did beat the time from June. My time was 42:33
This was last year:
(I should mention I would not allow a full-length picture to be taken)
And this is from today:
So I got to thinking about those skinny jeans of mine. You know how our minds can be sometimes- evil and mean. I was thinking- what if I had simply stretched them out by trying them on so much?? Did they *really* fit?? I know what you are thinking- girl, shut up, stop worrying & enjoy your jeans!!! And believe me, now I'm with you. I went shopping today and just for giggles I decided to try on some more jeans. And you know what- the ones off the rack zipped right up too! Yup they sure did!!
The last time I lost a bunch of weight and met a milestone goal I bought a designer pair of jeans to celebrate. Well, as of this morning (waiting til wednesdays weigh in to make it official) I have hit a milestone goal. So guess what I did? Yup. Calvin, meet Levi
While the cashier at Kohls was cashing me out we got to chatting and I mentioned how I had to get a few new things as my work clothes were now too big. She congratulated me and asked how I managed to lose the weight. I wrote down this website
and told her how easy it was to use & how supportive everyone is. She mentioned she was going to check it out cause she was tired of following this mediterranean diet. I said that Spark isn't a diet to follow, but it does give you tools on how to make permanent healthy changes. I am more than happy to spread the spark!
