The program I am trying to apply to is Early Childhood Education with a Special Ed Endorsement. I already have a bachelor's degree and a Director's certificate in early childhood education.
The reason I was doing this is because I was hoping I could be hired by the school as as an Assistant Director by January. I had to start all over again as a sub teacher during a 90 day probationary period at this school. I am very grateful that I have this job. The next step would be assisting in one classroom, as a teacher aid or co-teacher. I was hoping since I already have put in the time as a teacher aid and worked my way up to lead teacher and also have my Director's license, I could somehow skip being a teacher and jump to Assistant Director by January, especially if I was enrolled in a graduate program.
Time will tell whether or not I am being unrealistic in this venture. I am grateful I have a job in the first place that is still in teaching since I was fired unfairly at my last teaching job with benefits. For 9 months I did not work, except for care.com where I babysat part time.
I wouldn't mind being a full time teacher either. It is better than a part time sub with no benefits. We will see if I qualify for graduate school. I might have to take a GRE and a MAT test as soon as next Saturday to make the October 1st deadline.
I am going to try to meet a professor with UC-Denver on Tuesday if I have time between taking my daughter to Aurora and Broomfield. I need to be in Aurora by 8:45am and Broomfield(near Boulder where the floods just were)by 1pm. I do not know if I can fit in meeting a professor at CU-Denver as well. Especially before 5pm. I always try to fit in more in one day than might be humanly possible, but I can try.
My 2 year old daughter gets to come with me. And, she really enjoys this school, I think. She should be moving up to younger toddlers soon. By, October in fact. She still has a g-tube and a scoliosis cast, but other than that she is progressing normally.
