Slowly but surely!

I did go to the gym this morning! I have been frustrated that my weight loss has been so slow, but I know that I am stronger and getting fitter each time that I go. My trainer keeps telling me that I am going in the right direction! It has been 3 months now and I am down 9 pounds.

    Hmmm...don't be frustrated by your weight loss. Remember that less from nursing school about how much space a pound of fat took up versus a pound of muscle (well we had that at my nursing school)???

    And it isn't always about the scale. What has happened to your BMI? How many inches have you lost? How long can you go on the elliptical at one time? What is your resting heart rate now after consistent exercise? You are doing awesome, I know the scale is a BIG barometer for us all, but look at all the other wonderful things you've done. And hey, didn't the tortoise actually wind up beating the hare? emoticon

    I think 9 pounds in 3 months is a great weight loss rate! It needs to come off slowly in order to STAY off. Also, this gives you time to gradually change your lifestyle and make good eating and physical activity habits. Keep up the fantastic progress on your journey!

    It's not always about the number on the scale... sometimes it's about just plain feeling fit and able! Good job... and nine pounds in 3 months may be slow, but, hey it's 9 pounds you don't need to carry around any more! That's what, 3/4 of a pound a week? That's not a horrible pace for long-term weight loss.
