My OA in my knee has gotten painfully worse. My doc says to keep ice on it and don't put any pressure on it. I told her that for me to do that for more than an hour would require a good sedative. She then suggested that I start swimming. What?!? Of course swimming requires hardly any impact on your joints, and it burns calories, and its a full body workout. Great! BUT - I haven't put on a pair of swim trunks in over 10 years. Mostly due to being overweight, and I really hate looking like the guys that are as gut heavy as I am jiggling around the pool in a pair of Speed-O's or trunks--can anyone say 'hairy whale on the beach!"?
I did check it out at our new Y. They do have Aquasize classes both co-ed and just for men or women. They also have dedicated Lap Swim times everyday of the week.
So tomorrow I will dig out a pair of trunks that hopefully fit, swallow what's left of my pride and go 'test drive' a H2O exercise class.
