Hi my Spark Friends!
As some of you are aware, I have been battling a throat issue ever since I got rid of a bad cold in April of this year. I have become hoarse, had irritation, coughs, voice changes and on and on. This has really eaten into my Spark People time and my lifestyle changes that I want to make. My progress since April has pretty much been non-existent.
I have seen several doctors about this, had to take many medications (mostly antibiotics), and got a referral to an ENT specialist but this was in April and I was still on the waiting list. I went to an on-call doctor last Friday and she said that a new ENT had moved into town and she would see what she could do to get me in to see him.
I have been praying and praying about this, leaving it in God's hands. Guess what? I got a call on Monday from the ENT's office asking if I could come for an appointment on Wednesday. He put a scope down and took a lot of movies and pictures and found no polyps or tumors - but he found that I had something called LPR. If you are familiar with acid reflux and GERD, it is the same except it is further up. He is sending me for one further test and doubled my acid reflux medication but assured me that it will eventually go away and not to be concerned.
I was so scared of the "C" word. I prayed that it would not be this. This sensation of something stuck in my throat was on my mind all the time. So, Sparkpeople kind of took a back door in my life and in my mind.
But, now I am going to get back on the Sparkpeople programs and continue my diet and exercise, although I have to cut out a lot of food that causes acid buildup.
So, I should be more active here. I was just so scared and my mind was so preoccupied since April about this that I haven't really enjoyed the summer. I know it will be better from this point on.
Thanks, my Spark Friends! Some of you who knew about this really came to my aid and for those that didn't, I apologize for not telling you, but I'm not one to bother people about my problems. There are enough problems to go around!
Have a blessed day, everyone!
