FIL gets the go ahead to get moving

Friday, September 13, 2013

So things are moving along well and he got the go ahead to walk more and move more. He is finally going to the bathroom now. Woo hoo. That's a big deal. He still is very shaky after 3 weeks in bed and will have to work with the therapist and nurses to regain his strength but he does have a good attitude. The cardiologist was at his house again yesterday and did the electrocardiogram. So very interesting how they have the portable equipment and how I could watch is heart beat on the screen. We will meet again with the cardiologist at his house again today to get the full report and learn what treatment he recommends for his high blood pressure. I know it will take a bit to get the right meds for that and treatment. But we are ahead of the game and all is good.

I am still feeling good and am getting organized for my trip and our 40 days away. My doctor told me yesterday that she will write a letter just in case I might have a flare up to instruct whoever might care for me what to do with the IV and what to put in it, etc. Hopefully I will not have a flare up and all will be good. I know if I take the time to prepare "just in case" that nothing will happen.

I hope all of you are doing well. Are you making good decisions?
Have a wonderful day.
Sallie

    Where do you travel?
40 days sounds a lot to be away from home! How do you prepare?

    To reword an olllld song:
What a difference a month makes!
(Who DID sing that?! I can 'hear' it, but cannot remember...!)
Not only is everything rolling smoothly, but you have a solid plan that will if necessary make any medical attention a breeze instead of a frustration. And... hopefully, all the preparations will be for naught because you'll keep feeing fine!!!
p.s.: Rod Stewart put the song on one of his albums. He's on YouTube if you want to hear the song I meant:

Great news about you FIL being up and moving! What he has been through and lack of movement has certainly left him weak. But my money is on him to stick with the plan and within 3 weeks, he will not even remember how weak he is at the moment. Great thing about the mind we tend to forget previous pain.

Also great news about your Dr. writing what you need just in case you have a flare up. That must give you much peace of mind about traveling now.

Enjoy your weekend!

That's wonderful news for your FIL. Glad he's taking it slow and easy to build up his strength.

You are well organized for your trip it sounds like. Awesome! That's such a great idea for your Dr. to send written instructions for you to take should you have a flare up.

HUGS

I am so glad your FIL got the go ahead to move more, and to visit the bathroom on his own is HUGE achievement.
