DH and I drove out to Leona Valley to try and find the male Red Tail Hawk. Dh said he saw the Hawk earlier in the day sitting on the telephone poll. It's always the same poll if he is there, if not, then he is in the tree. Anyway, we pulled up even with the famous Hawk Tree, and we didn't see him. We were almost ready to leave, when DH spotted a Hawk in the tree. He pointed the Hawk out, and said "there he is""...I took a picture, and realized it was a different Hawk. Then out of nowhere another Hawk flew by the tree, circled around, then took off for the hills. So we are pretty sure the male Hawk has a new mate. For me she will never be as pretty as Mama Hawk, but this Hawk is pretty. And her face has unusual coloring. Lots of white. I have never seen a Red Tail Hawk with this much white in its face. Here she is!!
The female flew off and started flying around not far from him.
This made my day. Now I don't have to worry about the male Hawk feeling so lonely.
