I've seen a lot of changes this month. I started college classes. I realized some people really might do better emphasizing protein in their diets. I marked 60 pounds off my high. I think I'm getting a glimpse of how much things can change without me having to react by going off track. I do eat more protein bars than I used to. (That's not what I meant by emphasizing protein, I just don't let classes get in the way of my dietary consistency.) I try to have water with me when I leave the house. That probably sounds obvious, but I've been a real homebody.
Meal blocking is working well for me, that just means 4 meals a day, with fairly equal calories and spread out pretty even. I sometimes split breakfast if I wake up crazy early. If I eat out I try to make it lunch and I borrow a few calories from my snack. I'm not hungry for snack then, but I try not to do this often.
My fitness routines fall behind the 8 ball sometimes and I might double up on a day. I need to do that tomorrow, pushing muscles in the morning and 5 k in the evening. I actually studied chemistry on the treadmill the other night... Just lecture notes, the book is too small of print.
And then there's attitude, keeping that eye on the road ahead. Like in drivers Ed, you steer straight by knowing where you're headed. Or follow through in ball sports. You don't stop your hand when you let go of the ball. The direction of the swing is only as true as the recovery.
There was a fantastic blog linked from At Goal and maintaining + transition to maintenance about why it's worth it.
