I secretly tricked my co-worker into joining me for a water drinking streak.
After they were asking me why I have so many headaches and urging me to go to the doctor (I have a physical scheduled for later this month already), I had an idea. Yesterday I had explained that my migraines and headaches are lessened when I drink enough water - and I had a REVELATION that I haven't been drinking as much water because I'm trying to use a company-provided cup with a straw, and it makes me not like to drink very much.
Water is delicious and refreshing, I don't normally have trouble drinking enough. But I like my reusable bottles that have an opening for drinking vs. a straw. (It pours our like a plastic bottle.) There's something about having it clean my mouth that makes it more refreshing (or I'm just a crazy person).
So I washed and brought my bottle to work today. And then I used my experience here on Spark to find out if anyone wanted to drink more water and have a competition for each of us to reach our own daily goal.
I made a shared "Hydration" calendar in Outlook and added the girl that sits across from me. By the end of the day I added another person that doesn't work in my room anymore! :)
It's a little silly, and a reason for me to be dorky and make calendars.. it could fizzle out pretty quickly (especially if others don't find reward in it). But, it has revved my engine and made it more exciting to me.. like the first time I tracked my water on Spark and saw the little cup fill up! I loved it.
I want to see my calendar fill up with days that I've met my goal.
