Carbs, Carbs, Carbs they are everywhere!

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Hey Peeps,

Been having some serious stomach issues lately (the past two weeks) so thought it would be a good idea to scale back on my gluten and other starches to see if that would help. So I am a week into making all of my meals from scratch (including my own mayo, salad dressings, and gluten free muffins) But still no relief. Plus I have lost exactly zero weight even though I have made a conscious effort not to go over 150 carbs a day.

I am currently waiting for my doctor to call me for a phone appt. to discuss and more importantly get a referral for a stomach specialist. This is not fun. I would say the pain is hovering between mildly annoying and full blown stomach ache. I am thinking I might actually have an ulcer since the pain has not been helping with prolesec acid reducer. But won't know for sure until I can have a camera placed in my stomach for a look.

Will keep you posted. I also found out I can't take the gluten test until I have completely gotten it out of my system for 6 weeks. So annoying! Since gluten is added to everything for a food binder. (including processed meat. So gross!)

So I have finally spoken with the specialist and I need to go in for exploratory surgery to biopsy my intestines (to see if I have gluten issues) and to check my stomach for any issues like an ulcer. I have scheduled it for Oct. 10th so hopefully will know what is causing the pain and lack of weight loss in a few weeks. In the meantime I was told to reduce my caffeine intake and to not completely go off gluten so that I am not changing my food intake radically before the surgery. emoticon Well at least I love bread.

Cheers,

MJ-

Pray the doctor is able to find the cause of your stomach issues and that it can be relieved quickly. emoticon

I hope that whatever is going on inside you isn't that serious. It must be frustrating to you not knowing what is going on. Keeping my fingers crossed that things work out.
