Dilated peepers!

Thursday, September 12, 2013

i have been wearing glasses for over fifty years. I have never had my pupils dilated until today. THE eye doc did everything but pop my peepers out of he sockets( I have seen this done years ago) and look at them!!
I had glaucoma test, cataract test, diabetes microscopic exam, depth perception, macular degeneration test, regular exam and color tests. I was there over two hours!!
He gave me apair of sunglasses to find my way home. I was doing great driving since it is a very bright, sunny day, 75 degrees, gorgeous. I also have transition lenses, so I put these glasses on under my own ones and did great until... I drove in the garage and darned near drove THROUGH the garage!!
turns out, my garage is not very bright and sunny since I have b=made it so secure. I got a new door with no windows in it, then an exterior walk-through door that is stainless steel with a wood core and peephole. My huge side window is blocked(deliberately by my shed.

I got out of eh car and had to feel my way into the house, then things REALLY got dark.. I could hear DD but could not see her sitting in a chair.. NOW I know what all these people all these eyars were talking about when they got their eyes dilated.
Linda's Law dictates that the dilation should wear off exactly when it gets dark out... surprise.

I am thrilled though: I do not need new lenses for the first time in years!! the diabetes, even though it has advanced, has not affected my eyes ,,yet. My exam cost $10 and it lifted my whole day!! The downer of the trip is that my cataracts are advancing, but he says I should be good for at least another ten years... I'll take it..
I am blessed that I still can see with my family history.

Having your eyes dilated is no fun at all! Glad you got some good news, though.

I am glad you managed to drive home safely! When my hubby went to have his eyes dilated, the eye doctor's office said he needs to get someone to drive him.

Also very glad that the outcome of your visit is a good one!

Take care & have a great day! emoticon

Your safety measures for your house sound like ours...can't be too safe in my book especially with how crazy people have gotten now...Glad you stay safe.

Again, that is GREAT news about your eye exam!

And you can't read with dilated eyes, either!

Glad they didn't find anything wrong!

Congratulations on the good (relatively) report.

My mom had cataract surgery, both eyes. It wasn't at all bad, and she was glad to be able to see so much better. It shouldn't be a thing to fear anymore.

You did a great job typing your blog in spite of dilated eyes. :)
