Passed my General tonight!

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Haven't posted a blog for about a week now- have been studying diligently for my General Ham radio test. Took the test tonight and passed! Got 29 out of the 35 questions right. More than enough to pass, only needed 26 correct answers. Whew! I did it! The examiners asked if I wanted to take the Extra test, which is the next level license. I had told Jim I wouldn't, but suddenly one of the examiners plunked the test and answer sheet in front of me. He wanted me to give it a try. The tests are all multiple choice, and on this test I would have to get 37 out of 50 to pass. It is a tough test, tons more electronic and radio knowledge. I guessed my way through it and actually got 19 correct. I was amazed. There is hope for me yet. So I may just start studying for it. We have the book, and the questions (all 700) to practice on. Plus I can take practice tests online. The next test would be in a month, so I will see how I feel and maybe go for it before work and gun club stuff gets too crazy with holidays and renewals.

Otherwise it was kind of a fat day. Ate at Perkins for breakfast with my mom and then again at Perkins before the test for dinner. Plus we did pie after to celebrate my passing the test. Had a nice day with my mom, lots of Dr stuff and errands.

Did have a nice short walk lat night in Henry's woods on our way to a Board meeting for the gun club. Am taking next week off except for Friday and next Sunday the 22nd. Had this time planned out before my transfer, so am working it in as best we can. The new store is very busy and I still feel like I am spinning in circles, but it is getting better. Once I get a handle on things would like to get some better controls in place for managing some things. Baby steps for now until I am sure of how and what goes on inthe different areas at this store. Need to get to know the employees also before barging around and making changes.

Off to bed. Been a busy and productive day.
