Looking up!

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

HMMMM! I see it's been a month since I've written. I don't know why I procrastinate blogging. I think I have nothing to say (after reading some of the awesome, inspirational blogs!) or I have too much to say and don't know where to start.
This past month has been pretty good for me. I got back to walking. Whew! I was so out of shape it was pathetic. But, I kept pushing and am back to my old routine. Actually, I've changed it up a little. I walk and do ST 2 days, walk a longer distance 2 days, yoga 2 days and rest one. Does that add up right??? emoticon
Just as I knew, my mood and attitude started improving after the first day of walking. So that impacts everything in my life. It becomes easier for me to deal with all of the little (or big) issues that come along.
Granddaughter had first day of kindergarten. Her response was lukewarm. She's transitioning from half day preschool to full day kindergarten plus a bus ride. It has been a tough transition for her. Needless to say, grandma (retired teacher) is a bit disappointed. She loves to learn, is reading, doing some writing, etc. so I just assumed she would be like me and her mom.......LOVE school. Well, not yet! She doesn't resist or complain but eh... whatever seems to be her attitude right now. I will keep my fingers crossed for some increased (or any) enthusiasm as she adapts to this schedule!!
My grandson had his first day of preschool yesterday. I asked him if he liked it and he told me he LOVES it!!! He could tell me every toy he played with!!! He makes me smile he is so cute and such a BOY!!! emoticon
Hubby has been traveling quite a bit; we've had some dear friends here for a visit so life has been busy for us.
However, last Saturday we went to adoption day to see if our dog was there. We think he might have been. We came home, talked, thought and asked if we could have a "trial" period with him. He is adorable beagle but we need to make sure he gets along with my son's dog since we keep him a lot. We drove an hour to the kennel and picked him up. He was very excited and so were we!! His name right now is Theo but we don't know if we will keep that name. He got a bath first thing almost and was very good about it! He has kept me busy today for sure. Our dear beagles were about 12 when they passed and Theo is 2!! Big difference in energy level and curiosity!! He is finally taking a nap! That's probably what I should be doing!! LOL Son and wife are bringing their dog, Albert, this evening for the big introduction!!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Sorry the pictures are not very good! My phone does not take good pictures ever!

Wow, I love your new exercise routine!! You are doing great!

I don't recall how Ian felt about school. I recall him complaining that they went way too slow and the teacher told us the same. As I recall what she said is that Ian practically screamed with relief and joy when they moved onto something new. I was embarrassed. His teachers said that he would teach himself things before they could get to it. His kindergarten teachers told us they had nicknamed him "Einstein". LOL. I saw his kindergarten teacher a few days ago in fact. I recall being bored in school too. Maybe they are not challenging your granddaughter enough. It's hard for the teacher to do when they have so many slow learners to deal with. The "No Child Left Behind" is the rule here. They recommended for us to enrich Ian with all kinds of opportunities out of school.

What's the chance that Theo will go back to the kennel? emoticon LOL. He looks quite at home there. He probably has already named you guys!! LOL.

I'm so glad you're feeling better after you got yourself back into a routine, my friend.
My Lucy is starting all day 'real' preschool (not Grammy's) next week and she cannot wait!
A dear friend of mine's 5 year old daughter (mom and grandma are teachers) who was very happy in preschool is not doing well in K- but it seems to be the bus ride that is the problem and they're hoping she will adjust.
Good luck with the new doggie!

So glad you are in good spirits, with so many things to celebrate. Grandkids + new dog...it's a good combo and Ihope they all get along with the other dog, and that Theo is a keeper.

All the best as you exercise like I wish I would.

Pam

Theo is a very cute dog! I hope it works out for you. My nephew's dog never did get along with his mom's (my sister) dog and my parents had to take care of my sister's dog when my nephew came to visit. So I know what you mean. I hope with the better better later this week you will have more opportunities to walk.

Congratulations on getting back to a routine!
I know how hard it can be to get back to that point, but you did it!!!
I'm sure your granddaughter will find her place, I'm sure once she finds a friend it will make her see going to school as a fun thing. and I'm sure that both little ones will find Theo's energy a challenge.
Keep up the good work, stay determined, and take each day as it comes!!
