Back on track

I spent the entire month of August going to see a physical therapist for my ankle issues, and now...MY ANKLE DOESN'T HURT OR SWELL ANYMORE!!!!

Go figure, right? I'm glad that I did it, even though I was hesitant for so long to seek professional help (because it's expensive, I wasn't sure if it would actually help). I am so happy to be healthy again! It's kind of like the migraine issues I deal with. I put up with the migraines until they got to be so severe and so frequent that I had no choice but to do something to fix the problem.

I hate to seek help for things. I don't like to admit that I can't do everything by myself. I'm working on this. It's kind of a big deal to admit that I cause myself more suffering because I don't want to admit that I need help.

In other news, I signed up for a weekly boot camp style fitness class at my gym, and a weekly morning yoga class. So, I used that to develop a new workout schedule that I want to stick to for the rest of the semester.

Mondays: Interval workout on bike or elliptical trainer, 2 miles and light weight training.

Tuesdays: Boot camp class (20 mins. of abs, 20 of cardio, 20 of weights).

Wednesdays: Interval running on treadmill or elliptical (not running outside yet, while ankle finishes healing).

Thursdays: Morning Yoga Class (Stretching and strength).

Fridays: Rest Day

Saturdays: Long Run day (building back up to 5K distance with no walking).

Sundays: Light Cardio/Yoga or Rest Day (depending on how I feel).

I like this schedule after doing almost 2 weeks of it. I think I'll be able to stick with it! The next step, after my body adjusts to the routine, is to work on my nutrition.

About asking for help; keep working on it. Never be afraid to ask as it's a way of self nurturing and taking care of ourselves. You deserve to be healthy and sometimes it means we have to ask for help. I'm proud of you for taking the steps to do your physical therapy and glad that you are feeling better! emoticon
