It has been 10 days since I have had any aspartame (15 since I ran out of diet soda and decided to give it up, but I had a couple of slip ups). I STILL FEEL TERRIBLE! OMG this is AWFULÖ I need to remember this feeling every time I want a diet soda. I canít believe I donít feel better yet!! I have NO ENERGY, really achy and in a BAD MOOD. I donít know what else this could be? It isnít that time of the month, I donít think I am getting sick, I am only left with how I am eating/lack of aspartame.
In order to substitute for my caffeine- In the mornings I have been drinking my protein shake with cold-brewed coffee & chocolate almond milk ((LOVEit)). So I know I donít feel terrible because of caffeine withdrawal. I am under more stress since I started grad school, but I donít see why that should make me feel so lethargic & achy.
My next baby step is to slowly increase the amount of veggies I eat & slowly decrease the amount of processed stuff I eat. This includes slowly cutting out my beloved cheese, which I am heartbroken over. I recently had allergy/food sensitivity tests done and it shows I am very sensitive to dairy products. I know my naturopathic doctor said I would see the biggest difference in how I feel if I was willing to go on a strict diet and give up everything I am sensitive to cold-turkey (and the list is staggering people!!). Iím not willing to do that, I know I would eventually rebel, say F*%# this and eat the restricted foods. I work best with baby steps and small changes, that way I donít feel like I am being punished.
I just hope I feel better soon. I do notice I am a little less hungry than I normally am, which is good. But I am already catching myself wanting to go back to diet soda because I feel so terrible. I didnít think withdrawal would last this long!! Guess I just need to stay strong and stick with it & hope for the best.
