Tuesday morning...

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

And I don't mean the store! It's just really Tuesday morning....so why not blog?

Since yesterday was Monday, it was another opportunity to avoid that darned candy dish! And avoid I did, made much easier by the fact that it is now empty! And did not get refilled as it usually does! That said, there are new candy dishes in our conference room, right across the hall from my office...and I avoided those too, but they contained Smarties, not my candy of choice, so really easy to avoid!

I brought breakfast and lunch for 2 days in yesterday so I could amble in today (run or walk as dictated by my knee), and along with that, I brought a couple of nectarines and a couple of pluots, and those were great yesterday, can't wait for today's afternoon fruit treat!

I had my Ortho appointment yesterday, and he said I have chondromalcia patella, common in women because of our hip angle, and that I should let the pain in my knee dictate my running, but that if I felt up to it, I could do the marathon. Now, I know I don't have the endurance built up to actually RUN this event, but I do think if I am careful, and train right (this would really be taper time anyway) I can run what I can and walk the rest. So many people are successful with the walk/run marathon process, so I think I could work that out. I'll see how my training goes in the weeks ahead and see how I feel come that weekend. We still could switch to the half, need be.

Work is nuts right now, we are less than a month from a big systems change...and our corporate folks have descended on us....always a treat! Tine to roll up the sleeves and dig in!

Yes, be careful with that injury, not that I have much experience with running a marathon. But, a walking-running option seems an excellent commitment to make, one on which you can only improve in terms of a gradual increase in time and difficulty. It is so important to always keep moving. Will be rooting for you when the day comes! Meanwhile, as always: one day and one step at a time, eh ...

Have a great day!

I hope that you feel better soon and wish you well whichever choice you make. Just be careful, it's better to give up one run then to have to give many more.
Nice job staying away from the candy, I don't like Smarties either. I even turned down a free lunch today. My boss wanted to buy me lunch for running the half, but I pack everyday and feel that is better for me anyway. Some days saying no is easy, others it is pretty darn hard.
