It was wonderful to see our daughter. We picked her up from the airport last Thursday at 9:00 a/m and we went straight to our little cabin in Williams, Az. (we live in Phoenix) She had not been there for at least 7 years or longer..
We had a lot to say to each other and chatted all the way ....it made the 3 hour drive go very quickly.
There were even more wild flowers out than the last time we were there. There had been so much rain in the past few days and GOD had truly shown us HIS tapestry.
Here is a field that met us as we came into the "high country" It was taken from the truck driving down the highway . So much yellow covered the ground. Different wild flowers everywhere.
It was lunch time and we were all hungry so we headed to our favorite place to eat. We all chose the green chilli burrito plate special. It consisted of a green chilli burrito, rice & beans.
Afterwards, we went to the cabin and let Coreen see all the improvements that had been made. She had seen pictures but wanted to actually "see" and "feel" them.
We took the back roads and the ground was covered with new wild flowers. My husband and daughter wanted to get out and pick some and take pictures, of course.
I did not know he was picking me a bouquet .....it really touched my heart.
After arriving at the cabin, I put my flowers in an old tea pot and placed it on the deck.
After about an hour, we started for the Grand Canyon, an hours` drive away.
We stayed til the sun was setting.
Even though we had a short, one day trip, it was worth the drive.
The next day, before we headed back home, we went out for breakfast at ....guess where? yep...you guessed it....Pine Country. I had a green chilli omlette made from the same green chilli that I had the day before. It was D-licious!
We went home going back a different way than we took up. We went through Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona.
Oak Creek is a beautiful place for camping and picnics. I camped here a lot when I was a kid. It is only about 1 1/2 hours from Phoenix, where I live.
All the campgrounds are surrounded by these beautiful, tall pine trees. Husband and I would love to come and stay here for a few days. Maybe we will next month, October.
Sedona is very famous for its red rocks. You have to be pretty well off to live here. Many famous people come stay here or have a home here.
There are some rock formations that have been named...........
This one is" Madonna & child"....it is located in the center of this picture
This one has an eagles` head...can you find it?
There is a beautiful chapel built on the side of a hill. We have gone to visit it many times. It is called "Chapel on the Hill"
This replica of Christ hanging on the cross is made from wire and looks out over the valley from the picture window inside the chapel.
The Dairy Queen was not too far away. It is a tradition for a "must stop" one that we started many years ago. I had a small chocolate cone.
This barrel cactus was in bloom just outside the door entrance.
We had a long but wonderful day . The next day, Saturday, our other daughter and her family were coming over for dinner and to play games.
Family photos were a must.
Grandsons (Matthew & Bryce) and son-in-law(Kevin) giving us a unique pose.
Christy (oldest daughter) me & husband David and our youngest daughter Coreen
We enjoyed a dinner of KFC
The last day of my daughters` visit, Sunday, we went to church ( not my church but a beautiful fall picture that I found on the internet)
then we met her cousin at Carl Juniors` for lunch and then off to the airport for her return flight. Her flight left at 3:00 p/m
We had a wonderful and very "full" 4 days...from Thursday through Sunday.Coreen has seen changes in her Dad`s dementia and would like to come back around his birthday in Jan. .......if finances and time allows and if it is GOD`s will.
