Visit with our Daughter, from Missouri (pics)

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

It was wonderful to see our daughter. We picked her up from the airport last Thursday at 9:00 a/m and we went straight to our little cabin in Williams, Az. (we live in Phoenix) She had not been there for at least 7 years or longer..

We had a lot to say to each other and chatted all the way made the 3 hour drive go very quickly.
There were even more wild flowers out than the last time we were there. There had been so much rain in the past few days and GOD had truly shown us HIS tapestry.
Here is a field that met us as we came into the "high country" It was taken from the truck driving down the highway . So much yellow covered the ground. Different wild flowers everywhere.

It was lunch time and we were all hungry so we headed to our favorite place to eat. We all chose the green chilli burrito plate special. It consisted of a green chilli burrito, rice & beans.

Afterwards, we went to the cabin and let Coreen see all the improvements that had been made. She had seen pictures but wanted to actually "see" and "feel" them.
We took the back roads and the ground was covered with new wild flowers. My husband and daughter wanted to get out and pick some and take pictures, of course.

I did not know he was picking me a bouquet really touched my heart.

After arriving at the cabin, I put my flowers in an old tea pot and placed it on the deck.

After about an hour, we started for the Grand Canyon, an hours` drive away.

We stayed til the sun was setting.

Even though we had a short, one day trip, it was worth the drive.
The next day, before we headed back home, we went out for breakfast at ....guess where? guessed it....Pine Country. I had a green chilli omlette made from the same green chilli that I had the day before. It was D-licious!

We went home going back a different way than we took up. We went through Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona.

Oak Creek is a beautiful place for camping and picnics. I camped here a lot when I was a kid. It is only about 1 1/2 hours from Phoenix, where I live.

All the campgrounds are surrounded by these beautiful, tall pine trees. Husband and I would love to come and stay here for a few days. Maybe we will next month, October.

Sedona is very famous for its red rocks. You have to be pretty well off to live here. Many famous people come stay here or have a home here.
There are some rock formations that have been named...........
This one is" Madonna & child" is located in the center of this picture

This one has an eagles` head...can you find it?

There is a beautiful chapel built on the side of a hill. We have gone to visit it many times. It is called "Chapel on the Hill"

This replica of Christ hanging on the cross is made from wire and looks out over the valley from the picture window inside the chapel.

The Dairy Queen was not too far away. It is a tradition for a "must stop" one that we started many years ago. I had a small chocolate cone.

This barrel cactus was in bloom just outside the door entrance.

We had a long but wonderful day . The next day, Saturday, our other daughter and her family were coming over for dinner and to play games.
Family photos were a must.

Grandsons (Matthew & Bryce) and son-in-law(Kevin) giving us a unique pose.

Christy (oldest daughter) me & husband David and our youngest daughter Coreen

We enjoyed a dinner of KFC

The last day of my daughters` visit, Sunday, we went to church ( not my church but a beautiful fall picture that I found on the internet)

then we met her cousin at Carl Juniors` for lunch and then off to the airport for her return flight. Her flight left at 3:00 p/m

We had a wonderful and very "full" 4 days...from Thursday through Sunday.Coreen has seen changes in her Dad`s dementia and would like to come back around his birthday in Jan. .......if finances and time allows and if it is GOD`s will.

This recounting of your 4-day-weekend visit with family, accompanied by these beautiful pictures, has been a joy this morning for me to view. Although I have seen pictures of the Grand Canyon (but never been there - yet) your pictures caused me to utter out loud the word MAJESTIC.

And ... I loved it when your husband and daughter got out to pick wild flowers ... definitely took time to smell the roses in life ... and that your hubby surprised you with that bouquet - absolutely precious. What a great weekend trip - what brilliantly captured moments in photos ... and what a great family you are!

God Bless You and thanks for sharing!

So glad your family could get together and share such wonderful times together. I love Sedona one of my favorite places in AZ. The cactus are so interesting looking as are all the rock formations. Hope it works out that your daughter can come back soon. Love and hugs, Pat emoticon

The pictures are beautiful Callie. I love the flowers and the red rock (I found the eagle head), the trees, and the water. And the food...ha ha

I've spent much time camping with my horses and riding the back country and your pictures remind me of those times. I've even spent a lot of time riding in AZ , Utah, NM, along with TX (where I live) so I've been near the places you visited.

I've clicked the 'subscribe to this blog' box again. Maybe it'll stick this time. emoticon

emoticon everyone for stopping by and posting comments.
Barbie....I agree about the "pie pictures. We took pie "to go" and it being in a box was not as appetizing. We brought them home as we didn`t have time to eat them. Not quite the same. emoticon I finally finished mine Sunday a/m after sharing bites here and there with daughters and husband.....bought them Thursday afternoon.

Another winning Blog with great photos! Family, Grand Canyon, Sedona and "Pine Country" although that pic of the green chili omelette is not near as appetizing as your pie pics from the past. emoticon
