Take Good Care of Yourself

Good morning!!

Spark People, and other resources, tell us how important health and physical fitness are for you. Developing good habits can rid the body of many sicknesses and diseases, as well as give you a confidence boost; however, these are not the only ways that you should be taking care of yourself.

A close friend of mine is stressed out from work, yet they haven't taken vacation time for themselves. Another close friend of mine worries all the time about people and situations that she cannot control.

So what's the REAL solution? Well, I'm not going to sugar coat this. PRAY AND DEVELOP A GENUINE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. I don't mean one of those relationships for show, or one where you feel God is always speaking to you in the same tone and ever so kindly. In all honesty, the way that God loves (though I admit I will never fully understand it) allows for Him to yell at us when we need it, comfort us when we need it, heal us when necessary, and let us feel pain when we need to. He is a wise and balanced God who only allows us to go through things, or not go through things, to both test us and mold us. If we would trust Him completely with our needs AND DEEPEST DESIRES, we would have peace and joy.

There are other things that you can do to take care of yourself. LOVE, AND LOVE HARD. I'm not talking about a man... I mean, love your family. Love your friends. There are all kinds of ways to love people. You can love from a distance. You can help out a stranger in need or hug a family member. You can take a stroll outside and love the beauty of nature.

In short, there are SO many options available to us. We so often limit ourselves and abuse our own minds and spirits (putting ourselves though much pain) by focusing on those few things in our lives that are quite where we want them to be. In all honesty, what else can you do besides worry? Take a step back and take time to feed yourself with love and positive thinking... aspire to be brave enough to stop worrying about those things that you cannot control.

And remember, also love yourself.... I can't stress this enough. Take yourself out sometimes. Come home and run yourself a nice bubble bath with some scented oils and lit candles. Fix a nice dinner for yourself. Whatever you do, make sure you are catering to YOU!!!
