Took my dad to the doctor for a check up. He did well, might be able to loose his oxygen tank in a week or so, his weight is okay. He was reminded he needed to eat GOOD calories for the body to heal, his appetite is down from normal. Dads main concern is his sleep, he still can't sleep at night nor can he lay in bed. He was told it might take time to get back in bed, sleep in the recliner if it is comfortable, try not to NAP during the day-if you get tired get up and walk a little-they didn't want to give him something for insomnia. All in all a great report!

Sounds like he is doing great and that you and they are taking good care of him. Nutrition is very important in the elderly and he needs it to heal adequately so keep encouraging him to eat. Most doctors are hesitant to prescribe sleeping meds for the elderly as they often don't respond well so keeping him active and awake during the day is the best solution. I am praying for you.

Inactivity makes me a restless tired. I get so much more rest after doing something "useful" but sometimes need some ibuprofen to take that sore sting away.
