Property tax day! !Whooppee!

Monday, September 09, 2013

Nothing warms my heart more than signing those checks for property taxes!! Not one check, but two. One for the parents house and one for mine. We have to pay taxes for our street lights, BUT we cannot claim that tax on our income taxes at the end of the year. Go figure. Apparently, the light fairy somehow sneaks that $$ back into my checkbook when I am asleep..NOT..

Another dark rainy day.. humid too. I have plans to get on the stability ball again and do some stuff with free weights. Getting those 10,000 steps in is so easy at work,, I usually have over 5K in before 8 o'clock.

    Well I guess prop. taxes is better than paying endless rent month after month.

    Actually 1000 people left our town due to lack of close by jobs... who can live on minimum wage? and so property worth less, selling for less. I asked and got 22,000 in value taken off my house so saved $600 a year on my prop. taxes now.
    I am pretty happy about this. This rarely happens.

    For the area our taxes are high. So many homes have been converted to businesses when we came here 25,000 people and now only 17,000.homeowners.
    35,000 work here use our roads and safety people but Maine can not have a city tax. It is in it's constitution.
    We have too many tax exempt properties here. Mostly state offices everywhere so more and more people are leaving the city. Right now there is a glut of homes for sale. Just like the big Cities everywhere else.
    I just love this place. Pat in Augusta Maine. emoticon emoticon

    "Thank God For Dirty Dishes"

    Thank God for dirty dishes;
    They have a tale to tell.
    While others may go hungry,
    We're eating very well
    With home, health, and happiness,
    I shouldn't want to fuss;
    By the stack of evidence,
    God's been very good to us.

    I suppose that sort of fits in some kind of way.

    I guess that's one of the few good things about not owning property... no property taxes!

    Hope you get in a great workout on the ball!
