The Tortoise and the Hare---in other words---keep going!

Monday, September 09, 2013

I've been thinking a lot about just plain sticking with it. You see, several years back I was on Spark People, but then dropped it for 3 years. What's the excuse we always give ourselves? Just too busy.

Another rationalization I used was that I wasn't losing weight fast enough.

So I quit SP for 3 years.

A few days ago, I joined again and my jaw dropped when I saw my last posted weight. AAAGH! I weighed 40 lbs. less 3 years ago.

Sooo. I was unhappy that I wasn't losing weight faster, quit, and then the weight piled on. MMM...this is almost cliche. I should have just hung in there.

Saw a quote on a friend's blog which is so true: "Never give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway."

One day at a time for the rest of my life. That is the way that I have to look it this. Slowly but surely I will get all of the weight off. I am not sure how long it will take but I am in it for the long haul. I'm glad that you're back in the race and willing to stick with it. emoticon emoticon

I can totally relate. I was on SP in 2011 for two months and quit. It took me 8 months to be back.

    A powerful lesson learned!!

During the roller-coaster of middle-age metabolism (and laziness) I gained 40 pounds back also. Over the past year, I've been chipping away at it and while I don't lose weight quickly any more, I did manage to lose 14 pounds over the last 12 months. I never thought about it until this morning: I've only gained 26 pounds!! (That just sounds so much better to me!!) emoticon

emoticon Glad to have you back!!

I've done the same thing. This time I am really trying to stay on this path. So it takes time - I've got a lifetime! One foot in front of the other, we can do this!!!
