What's been happening...

Sunday, September 08, 2013

It's been a while since I've been here writing.

My health seems pretty good. I can't complain. I'm getting ready to get my annual flu vaccine.

Last month I believe it was I was so happy to be getting away for about 4 or 5 days to La Grande, Oregon on the Eastern area. You see we have a new van and this was to my my first get away with robert since I moved here. We got half way there and stopped in the Columbia Gorge to feed and water Leone and us eat as well and Robert ahd chest pains that were pretty active and bad. Ahead would ahve been high, steep and curby mountains and i don't drive so i said let's call our friends and explain the situation and we'll go home. robert is having lots of tests done on him for the first time ever.

then he got a vaccine for shingles 2 weeks ago and he ahs been pretty sick and is now feeling better. It gave him Shingles. He ahd a high fever over 103 and very hot and swollen in the area of the injection. He couldn't go to the ER because Kaiser wanted an $1800.00 co pay. He said no way.

this weekend we got out and went to the U.S. Dragon boat races in Portland and supported roberts daughter who's first place in the women's team. She did great. I'm going to be trying really hard to work these muscles up and recruit and train for a team next spring. I got a little sunburnt today. It was fun.

Oh no! I take it Robert's chest pains weren't anything serious?

And that's awful news about his reaction to the shingles vaccine! I am intending to get one but may wait till closer to the end of the year until more of my Part D deductible is paid. I would hate to have shingles -- everyone says they're awful! emoticon And I'm not real big on awful ...LOL

Good thing you did not get up in those mountains when R got sick! That vaccine is $300! I wanted to get it, but cannot afford that price. Where are R's shingles?

Poor Robert has had a tough time of it lately. Hopefully the docs will get everything figured for him.

Glad you had a fun time this weekend!

It has been a rough time for sure. Shingles are awful, I had them in my lower back and now sitting is still painful after a long time.
I did have the flu shot a year ago and we asked for the shingles shot. We were told to wait 30 days and by then DH had shingles in his face and mouth and ears, He could not shave so it was very hard to put up with.

I hope Robert is still improving, it was too bad about not being able to be treated better because of the insurance limitations. I thought all hospitals will reduce payment if the cost is too high. I hope he is much better by now, it was great you had the presence of mind to call for help.

WEll done Debs and it might be good to get back to your dragon boats. Remember you have been through a lot so make sure you check with your Dr's first. emoticon emoticon Pat in Maine.

It sounds like a good time at the Dragon boat races. But I am sorry that Robert has been so sick.
