Firstly we got a phone call today from MEXICO, wow! Remember we are in northern Canada, really very northern where bears, moose and lots of other wild things are. Our sweet Mexican daughter wanted to hear our voices so she called us. I was born in 1947 so don't mind me if I find that amazing. She is the head officer at a bank and she will miss practicing her English with us but there will be others there to practice on. Her husband lost his job. He had a job in a casino for 2 yrs. and one day the man who owns the casino let ALL the staff go. He has hired all new staff. I guess they were all due for a raise or something. Mexico is harsh. She filled me in on all the newest info about her family, most good but not all. Her mother is still waiting for an operation for her shoulder and her brother is still out of work. Her sister left but returned to her husband, some nastiness there. She has a little 2 yr. old daughter and her sister has a son just younger and I really want to return to La Paz and teach those little ones English. Next year God willing!
Today we finally finished hauling 4 tons of pellets (8000lbs) from our front yard around to the back door and then down a tin chute to where they were off loaded and stacked neatly in an area of the basement. Hubby would load them into the wheel barrow, walk around to the back door, start them ( that is 40 lb. bags) down the chute, where I would pick them up and walk them over to the area where I piled them into 3 very long rows. It is hard to believe we are finished. When I was sure we were near the end I said to hubby "If you send anymore bags down this chute I am going to run up there and kill you" he answered "Talk to me after these 5 bags". So I did and he said I could save my energy as those were the last 5 bags. Way to save your life fellow!! All kidding aside, it feels good to be done. There is a Creative Writing Workshop in a community near here next Sat. and I think I will go and I might have to remind hubby about my sore muscles and hands. Finances being tight and all that.
Before we got going on the pellets this morning I took the dogs out for a nice long walk and I timed it. I was shocked that 3 km. walk only took us 40 mins. I will have to make the walk longer as both the dogs and I need do walk more than that.
