It's Not Too Late

I found SparkPeople a couple of weeks ago and have been obsessively poking around ever since. I love the amazing people on this site and received inspiration to write a blog from Bobcatgirl76. I think the key to my regaining my health will be honesty on my part and this blog will keep me accountable. I know that I need support and have very little of it. The blog will help me build that up - hopefully.
In October 2012 I stood on the scale and saw a jackpot number: 200.0 pounds. That was another wake up call for me - I went on a strict 1200 calories and recorded all of my food on an app called MYFitnessPal. I lost 20 pounds, but then some bad stuff happened and my emotional eating kicked back in. I gained 10 pounds back after my March disasters. I know that my life now depends on eating healthy.
I started 'dieting' 29 years ago when I was 40 years old. I am a Lifetime member with Weight Watchers which was my first venture in weight loss. I kept the 20 pounds off for 2 years and then the yo yo-ing began and I went from one diet to another after each weight gain.. Now, I am 40 pounds overweight, but according to the old Weight Watcher’s standards I am 60 pounds overweight because my goal weight back then was 130 pounds and is now 150.
Tomorrow, I will blog about my first major grocery shopping trip in 15 years. Please come back to see how it turned out. I hope that I can inspire myself and at least one other person to follow a healthy eating plan. This first blog is short and doesn’t exactly say what I wanted, but at least I got it done! See you tomorrow. CC (Carrol's Corral)

Blogging is very helpful to losing weight. Use the help of the Spark Community. They are the most wonderful group of people for a support system. You will make great friends as well. Ups and downs seem to happen to us all. I lost my sister in July suddenly. It threw me into a spiral. I too have had days of emotional eating. I am just now getting back on track. Before that, last fall I became seriously ill. The doctors in the hospital put me on a high calorie diet and I had to continue it after coming out of the hospital. I gained 28 pounds. I was in the process of getting that back off when my sister died. I was 13.5 pounds away from getting back to where I was. I was afraid I had gained a lot, but, didn't gain but 3.5 pounds. So I am now 17 pounds away from where I was when all of this started. So it is an up and down situation. We just have to keep at it. I agree it is important to our health and it is never to late. I don't think I would be here, if I hadn't started taking care of myself. So keep on blogging, planning your meals, and get in exercise as you are able. Reading a lot of SP's articles are helpful. If you need help or are stuck just call out and the Spark Community will respond. Someone out there has the same problem or has an answer that will help. Glad you are with us! emoticon
