We all wear various "hats" as we go through this journey of life. I have a Wife Hat, a Mom Hat, just recently a Mother-in-Law Hat, a Pastor's Wife Hat, a Daughter Hat, a Sister Hat.... I wear all of them at times, some better than others.
But a neighbor out for a walk with her dog this past week reminded me that those who don't know me personally see me with other hats..."Aren't you the lady that usually rides a bike? It's harder to recognize you without your helmet! [my Biker's Hat]
I have been babying a knee/lower leg ache and didn't feel that the bike ride that I enjoy so much would help the situation, so I have been walking exclusively. When this neighbor saw me, she thought that I looked familiar, but wasn't entirely sure she knew me. I am glad that she realized I was biking AND wearing a helmet!
My fitness "hats" have changed. About a year into this journey, I had "That Lady from Church Who Walks" hat. That tickled me - I had never in my life been known for any physical activity. My new Biker's Hat tickles me as well. Perhaps in the future I will have a Zumba Lady Hat or a Hiker's Hat or another. Won't that be great?!
My knee is better so I am going to be able to put on that Biker's Hat for a few minutes this morning!
