A LOT has been happening lately, so I'll try to keep it short.
I graduated with my BA in Classics this May, and I was accepted into a one-year, pre-professional Master's in Medical Science program at my university. I'm LOVING it! I'm taking an MCAT prep course as a pass/fail elective, and it's cut into my dance classes but it's promising to be well-worth the investment of time and tuition. I'll graduate with the MS in August.
I'm applying to osteopathic medical schools this cycle for the Fall 2014 semester, because I think the chance of getting in is worth the risk of investment. I may end up taking a year off, but that would be okay.
I've been following Paleo as closely as possible since it started coming up around these parts, and while I can't stick to it 100% of the time (full time graduate school = no net income), I do the best I can.
Since the semester started, I've been swimming at the main campus gym almost daily and doing the workouts in Body By You, which is written by the same fella who wrote You Are Your Own Gym. It's great because it is geared toward women and has more intermediate progressions for those of us who can't jump right up to pullups, and the lovely ladies in the exercise descriptions are nothing but inspiring. Plus it was an excuse to build another spreadsheet.
The skinny fiance graduated with his BA too, and has since gone back to the community college here to earn his RN (at a third of the cost of the university's tuition). His best friend is home safely from serving as a Marine in Afghanistan, and he's doing the same nursing pre-requisites as the skinny fiance.
We won't be getting married for a while yet, still. I promise, there won't be any surprises.
My classes are tough and my time is limited, so I won't post much, but I will stick my head back in from time to time. I missed all the different perspectives, especially from the science nerds, and I need a place to showcase my fitness accomplishments, after all!
