An town festival/fair is tonight and tomorrow in the town I live in. Every year, I look forward to a Friday evening and Saturday of big-time junk food eating. Tonight, I decided to eat a big bowl of home cooked oatmeal and drink a glass of milk before we went to the festival. I saved thousands of calories because I wasn't hungry at all when we got to the festival/fair. The smells of the food cooking were awesome but I truly wasn't hungry so I just enjoyed the smells of the fair-type food. I always dreamed about being able to make a healthy choice despite being in the midst of not-so-healthy-food.
I visited with a lot of people I haven't seen in ages. I ran into a gym employee who told me, "See you at the gym bright and early tomorrow" and that also helped me not give in to my brain saying, "get the cheesy fries, etc." Before I knew it, it was time to go home. I calculated a cup of hot chocolate into my menu and had that as my husband and I walked to our car. I was so happy. I feel like I defeated a giant this evening.
I plan to take a healthy snack with me tomorrow. I scouted out all the food booths tonight so I know I can have lunch at the festival tomorrow and still stick with my healthy goals. I am so happy that I had this victory today that I am too wound up to go to bed.
