Harvest Country Fair Day

Friday, September 06, 2013

Oh my what a wonderful time we had. The best was being with good friends, of course. The weather was perfect!

First we saw Dock an d Dunk I think it is called. Dogs jump off a ramp into a huge swimming pool to retrieve something thrown by the owner.

We ate things like pulled pork sandwiches, ice cream, smoked turkey legs, milk shakes, etc.

It was free because it was old folks day! Yeah!

Hubby was fascinated by a barn full of antique tools and equipment like the "one lunger." Hope you know what that is. All sorts of old stuff brought back memories of our grandparents and great grandparents: things to carry blocks of ice for the "ice box," gigantic lathes to make porch posts , weed sawing equipment, thinkd for milk gathering and getting eggs from farm chickens, harnesses for animals pulling farm equipment and lots more.

We did lots of people watching!

The fair was not one of the huge ones so it was easy to do in a couple of hours. We say a baby calf near one of the milk selling stands.

But... the bathrooms had a problem. The well for them went f=dry. I don't know what they will do when the fair is busy this evening ans Saturday all day! The well drilling machines were gong strong!

I have to go get my smoked turkey leg out of my back pack. It was so big I only ate part of it.

The male friend of our friend, Lisa, made a quilt! He got a blue ribbon! He bought the fabrics himself and made the design himself. It had a patriotic theme, red, white and blue fabrics. In the center was a fancy eagle fabric picture. The fabrics were well matched and beautiful!

I enjoyed the photos people entered into the fair. And I wanted to eat the baked goods they entered. They sure looked good!

So a good time was had by all! chris
