Wedding Venue?

Friday, September 06, 2013

I'm going to check out at least one, maybe two wedding venues this weekend. The one that I'm scheduled to go see sounds too good to be true on the pricing. It would cost less than half of what other venues I've looked at are priced at, and they provide an officiant, DJ, and photographer if you want them! It's a little out of the way, but not too bad. It's also pretty plain on the inside from the pictures I've seen, but with the money I would save, I could definitely invest in some nice decorations! I'm excited and nervous to go check it out in person, I hope it's a good fit, but it kind of sounds too good to be true right now! How wonderful would it be to have the venue, catering, officiant, DJ, and photographer all taken care of at once, for less than half of what I was expecting to have to spend?!?!

Thanks for the advise! The price given is for a Sunday and includes my preliminary headcount, but I do need to ask more about the photographer and menu! I'm taking my mother with me, she works in the event industry, so she should be able to pick up on anything I miss. *crossing my fingers*

Be careful! My friends son and his fiancÚ found a similar great deal. They ended up spending $10,000 more than others were charging! Be sure to get an itemized list of how many guests that price includes, the menu, how long the DJ plays and how many breaks, how many pictures the photographer takes. My friends learned the inexpensive price was for few guests, very small menu, minimal band time, and very little photography (one of the couple, one of the couple with parents and one of the bridal party). Also the low advertised price was for Mon-Thurs, except holidays! The person that handled their wedding was very skilled at convincing the couple they wanted all the add-ons. It was a lovely wedding but a lot more than originally planned. I think minimal is nice and financially smart. Know what you are paying for and how it compares with places that seem more expensive at first glance.
