Being Good To Ourselves

One of my goals is to be good to myself daily.
Sounds like common sense, right?
Unfortunately, what we often think of as common sense isn't alway so common.
I am an action and goal oriented person so I am always doing, doing, doing--for others.
This is a good thing because it makes other people feel special and I know they appreciate it. However, I also need to make time to do for me.
I am getting better at that. One indulgence I cherish is a massage or other body work monthly.
Yes, I know.....
A massage can be costly and out of reach for some.
However, there are things we can do to keep the cost down and make it a reality, if that is what we want.
Here are some ideas on how to afford massage if $ is tight:
--Look for a special local deal on a social media buying site like Groupon, Living Social, etc;
--Barter with a local masseuse. Do you have a product or service s/he might want in exchange for treatment? Personally, I LOVE to barter and have been very successful with it. It can't hurt to ask--worse they will say is no;
--See if there is a massage school in your area that offers discount massages by students;
--Learn simple massage techniques yourselve and swap "homemade" massages with a friend. My husband gives the best foot massage, for example.
Also, might you be able to save some $ for a massage by cutting back on unnecessary discretionary spending?
I know many people who spend an awful lot of $--and do not even realize it--on impulse purchases at the local coffee shop, vending machine, department store, etc.
If you want to do a massage but $ is tight, try saving for it by cutting back on those frivolous daily discretionary purchases. I promise the "massage piggy bank" will soon be full!
Yesterday I had a lymphatic drainage massage. It was divine. I found a 1/2 price deal through a social media buying company--so it was a bargain!
What is lymphatic draininage massage?
It is a type of gentle massage that naturally helps to drain fluids settled in our lymph nodes. I have seasonal allergies and so this type of massage helps clear me out during the worst of the season.
With this type of massage I feel like I get a 2 for 1: relaxation and a release of blocked fluids. Can't beat that!
