"We often give your enemies the means for our own destruction" - Aesop

I am very disheartened over many things going on in this country. One of them being that I do not want us to go into Syria - for many reasons.

Wishing all a happy, healthy weekend.

I hope they find a way of resolving this issue without any of our troops being in harms way.

I don't like the thought of another conflict in the Mideast either. Unfortunately,, the war hawks might push it further. So we wait and see. emoticon

I don't live in the U.S., but even limited acts of war in Syria by the U.S. terrify me. But letters to the editor in our newspaper and people I have talked to all support Obama's proposed action.

Syria is a very complicated subject. I don't want to bomb Syria either for many reason including the danger to our troops and the expense. That money could be better spent here. But, I'm not sure you can just ignore the fact that the leader of this country chose to murder innocent men, women, and children in the most heinous way because some people didn't agree with him. I don't think we can afford to ignore things like this unless we want to visit them on our own soil. It would be nice to find another means of punishment, which actually targets the person responsible and not more innocent people.

I am conflicted about what our role should be in Syria, too, if any.
The pics of the dead bodies lined up, including many children, were heartbreaking.
But this is THEIR civil war and we are never going to solve THEIR problems.
And isn't bombing them, or whatever, the same as spanking a child for hitting another child?
    On the other hand,
I remember first learning about the Holocaust as a young teen and being so angry that my parents and the whole world stood by and let that happen and ignored the overwhelming evidence and cries for help.
Do we (and the rest of the world) not have a moral obligation to protect the innocents?
