The thing about weight loss and maintenance is that - for me - what worked before stops working. Back in 1989 when I lost 115 pounds, I made up my own program that consisted of a daily 6 mile walk and about 1100 balanced calories. Not quite ten years later, that plan stopped working for me. I gained about 70 pounds, and took 50 off in 2004 by working with a personal trainer. Expensive!! Over the next 8 years I regained until I was back at about 185. In 2012 I decided enough was enough and took off 50 pounds - reaching my goal of 135. That's when I joined Spark. And, what was working for me STOPPED working and I regained 17 pounds.
Thanks to a Spark friend, I found out about The Plan (Lyn-Genet Recitas). And was amazed! You just can't doing the same thing over and over for years and expect it to continue working for you. In the past week - less than a week actually - I've lost 7 pounds on The Plan and have found some new things I can eat.
The best thing about The Plan is that it's individualized. You do the testing, find out what you can and can't tolerate, and you make the decision about what to put in your mouth. You don't have to follow a particular plan that may or may not work for you. You don't have to follow the common wisdom that doesn't work for you (at least it hasn't ever worked for me). Instead, Recitas gives you a way to keep trying new and different, maybe some old and different foods.
I once again have only 9 pounds left to go to goal - thanks to my Spark friends and the Plan. And I am amazed!! Wish this had all been around in '89!!
