Thought and Prayer for Friday, September 6, 2013

Friday, September 06, 2013

Many times in life we hear others say ďitís not fair!Ē There are even times when we feel that way ourselves. It may be someone at work received a bonus or promotion who we feel didnít deserve it. It may be someone who did something wrong but went unpunished. It may be a great opportunity was laid in someoneís lap who did nothing to earn it. We donít always know the reasons things happen. But God does and He can allow anyone to receive anything no matter what we think about it. It is His choice and He has His own reasons.

Exodus 33:19b ďFor I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.Ē (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know we donít see the big picture that You see. We sometimes get selfish and wonder why it seems people who donít deserve things receive them and sometimes receive them in great magnitude. Help us to remember You have all the answers and know all the outcomes in life. You know the thoughts and actions of all people. And You can show mercy and compassion to anyone You choose. You are God and we are not. Help us to focus on serving You and others so we can take our focus on who we believe deserves or doesnít deserve what they have been given. In Jesusí name. Amen

We need to take our focus off of what others are doing and getting so we arenít distracted with envy and jealousy.

When we worry and talk about how others may be getting special, undeserved treatment, then we arenít putting our trust in God.

There are times when we feel life isnít fair, but God is and we should simply trust in Him to make things right.

We donít see the bigger picture that God sees so we really should be concerned if others seem to be treated more favorably than we are being treated.

God can show mercy to whom He pleases. His ways are not our ways.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ďíMy thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,í says the LORD. ĎAnd my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.íĒ (NLT)

Thank for the prayer - been feeling that way for several weeks now when my husband's employer said they didn't feel he was doing enough and terminated his contract - then turned around and offered him a job in another part of the state at a much lower salary. We decided not to accept and now are moving across country to a new job - very stressful now having to put the house on the market, move the family, I had to drop out of school and will have to quit my job that I love -- al so they could give a complete loser his position. Now that guy is not working out (less than a week on the job) and they called my husband's new boss to tell him they made a mistake. Just too much.
