Just got back yesterday from an amazing holiday hiking in Lapland. I mean, it was the vacation of a lifetime, one I've been dreaming about for years. In fact, two years ago, I could not have imagined that I'd be able to hike 16 K in one day. And we are talking serious hiking here, not strolling through a meadow. I climbed 1000's of steps (no exaggeration), clambered up and down rocks and uneven ground, climbed steep hills that looked like mountains to me, and even crossed 4 scary, swaying suspended bridges. Me! I did that! And know what? I LOVED it!
I may not have lost that much weight yet (5.7 K) to date, but I am already a winner. I feel healthier and stronger than I've felt in decades. Sparkpeople has been a big part of that by providing me with structure and the help to think positively.
My experience this summer has made my determination to be the healthiest I can be even stronger. I want more and more hiking in my life. My daily work-outs will help me get there, as will tracking food, "menuizing" (as we call it in my house) and looking foward to my next adventure.
