DH is in the Hospital

Friday, September 06, 2013

Monday my DH cut a finger while taking apart our old washing machine. It bled a lot but it wasn't a large cut and he didn't think he needed to go in for a stitch or two. Tuesday his knuckle, near the cut, felt stiff. Wednesday night he said if it wasn't better by tomorrow, he was going to Urgent Care. Thursday morning he went to Urgent Care. They gave him IV antibiotics and then decided to send him home with oral antibiotics. He was supposed to go in today for a follow up appointment but things just got worse. He was in quite a bit of pain and the red, swollen area was increasing. So, we went back to Urgent Care and from there, he went in to the hospital. He definitely needs to be watched.

Here I am, up in the middle of the night. I had to get up at midnight to give our Weimaraner a pain pill. I set the alarm but woke about 10 minutes before that. I haven't been to sleep since. Our lab was very restless about an hour ago and finally went to the door and whined so I let the dogs out. Now I'm wide awake. Nights are an easy time to worry so, of course, I'm doing that. Tomorrow, or should I say later today, is going to be tough.

I sure hope that your husband's injury is completely healed. It sounds as though some type of infection set in. It is always such a hard call as to seeking medical help or not. I am thankful that y'all were able to get him the medical attention he required.

God bless!

Nights are definitely times when you worry and do alot of thinking. It's a good thing your DH kept going back to see someone about that. I hope he's better soon and I hope you're able to get some sleep.

Oh wow....these things can escalate so quickly! I'm glad John is getting the care he needs. Good thing he went in when he did!

How's it going with the dog? You said she was sick earlier in the week....do you still think it was the grass that affected her?

I hope you are getting some rest today!

When it rains it pours and when will it ever settle down for you and yours!?!

I am glad that John is being watched and with other issues there are so many other things that could get out of line when he's fighting an infection...sadly it leaves you with the entire burden of taking care of everything else. Don't forget to take care of you too!

I'm so sorry this happened. It's good there are other eyes to watch him, but of course, now you've got more to do. Sending a prayer for quick healing with no side effects for John and for some rest and sleep for you!! Maybe you need a dog walker for a day or two?

Should of called! I'd have listened to you. I know worrying at night is the worse. Maybe the Lab was just upset because DH was missing?
I'll pray that he heals quickly, that you get some sleep and that all settles into place soon, even the dog needs to get better. Wow, and I called yesterday to whine.
