Will see the doctor on Monday, and see what he says about my knee. Since I've cut way back on the training it's been getting better, so I'm pretty sure my internet diagnosis of runners knee is correct, but I will see what he says. And I'm still thinking about what to do about my marathon at the end of the month. Choices: running it is out, I haven't got the needed training, and I'm not that crazy! I could switch to the half, if there are space left, at the expo. If I can't switch to the half, I could switch to the "walking" group, they start earlier than the regular race. The only thing about that is I would like to run what I can and walk the rest, so I'll have to see if they allow that in the walking group. If neither of those options work, and the doctor says it's OK, I'll just do the race as planned, see how much I can run, and walk the rest. I'm certain I can walk the distance, I've done longer before (even if it took 9 or so hours!) and this will be on the road not a trail....

I don't have to decide just yet, but at least I feel like I have some options.

What a bummer! I pretty much have had those questions swirl in mind too at certain points during my training for my first half. My problem is asthma. I think it's funny how determined we are to get it done, but I see that you are looking at things realistically and will come to the decision that will be best for you. (I hate to admit though, I don't really listen to my Doctor too well. If I did, I wouldn't be running the half) I will walk across if I have to.
Very interested in what you decide. Take care and enjoy what ever path you choose!

Good choices. Give them careful consideration and let your body talk to you as you decide.
