Long afternoon...

Thursday, September 05, 2013

The morning was fine. Cooper and I walked with my middle niece then went and picked up my mom to go to a picnic. OMG... BORING! I knew that it was not going to be a crowd I could really relate to, but it was beyond tedious. It was a crowd of homeschoolers, so there were hordes of screaming children of various ages, and a bunch of moms (though there was one dad). I know they had to chat about the trials and travails of homeschooling their kids, but that is all they talked about for three hours. Ugh. I am not much for socializing to begin with... add in a topic that has no relevance to my life and time dragged. Eventually I just told mom it was time to go. The girls didn't want to leave, but I coerced them into the car and we finally left. I didn't make it home until after 5pm. When I did get home I just chilled out with my dog and read for a while before grabbing a quick dinner and taking Cooper out for a walk. When we got back from our walk I hopped on the elliptical for 15 minutes, because I knew that would make me sweat. Walking the dog just doesn't make me sweaty or feel like much of a workout. When he feels like running that is another matter, but he hasn't wanted to run much lately.

It really feels like Fall these days. I wore my fleece jacket today for most of the day. It was a touch too much, but when I took it off my arms got cold. I have to start thinking about cold weather running gear if I am really going to keep running all Winter like I want to. Eek! Winter? I am actually talking about Winter sports with friends already. Sigh.

It seems that Cooper overcame the trauma of the big dog encounter.

Fantastic! You made it through the picnic emoticon I wonder about working out in cold weather to. I'll have to do a spark search for that one.

The best part of other people's children is when they go home.

Fingers crossed that you will have PLENTY of time to get warm clothes - LOL. I am so hoping for an indian summer here, I want one more month to enjoy swimming. Then I will be able to think about clothes! emoticon

Kudos to you for making it through that picnic as long as you did! Ugh!

The right clothes make all the difference in cold-weather running. I'm saving buy the jacket that has a flap that comes up over your mouth. That's the hardest part for me, getting that cold air in my lungs.

you were one brave aunt to tough it out at the homeschoolers picnic, too bad you couldn't have used some of that time for running.

Layers, layers, layers. Coach Nicole wrote a couple of good articles about exercising in all weather. Very helpful.
