This from one of my top 3 favorite coaches. John Wooden actually coached at South Bend Central H.S. for (mid 1930's) several years, my Alma Mater. He was a Hoosier, born in Hall, IN then went on to coach at UCLA in 1947....the rest is history. I see this quote having a lot of relevance to our journey at SP. At least for me, this journey to health has been a learning experience. I've made mistakes and have learned from the experience. I'm sure I'll make more mistakes in the future too, but at least it has taught me to really be a 'doer'. I remember I used to love to sit down & relax - for WAY too long. Now, I just like to keep moving as much as I can. Anything to burn more calories!! The extra bonus is that all of that activity and movement has made me feel as good as I did when I was 30. I'll be drawing SS in the very near future and in no way do I feel my age!! It's fabulous!! As Coach Wooden's best to be a 'doer'.


Had a good day today. The weather was gorgeous. Seems that these past couple of days have been a little fall teaser, giving us a glimpse of that glorious fall weather that's soon to come. It's supposed to heat up again though, at least for a little while.

Ahhh.....tomorrow is Friday!! Really looking forward to the weekend.

    I feel like I'm doing until I'm becoming ineffective at being. I've got to get a balance. I need to come up to your little tourist town and take a break! Keep Sparkin'!!

    I need to be more of a doer right now. Tons of beginning of the year paper work bogging me down. I'm getting very little exercise. With my son playing soccer, and in band, we are gone and eating out 4-6 nights per week. My weight is starting to creep back up, and I feel yucky. Soon as this paper work is done, I'll be able to get more movement in at work.

    I remember when my perfectionism would paralyze me . . . "what if I mess up?" NOW it really is a matter of doing and learning.

Maybe a mistake will be made (or LOTS of 'em in my case!) but I've learned from every one of my mistakes.
