Yesterday went well with therapist

Thursday, September 05, 2013

Good afternoon; Darling Grand baby is taking a nap. I had forgotten how time consuming a 18 month can be. She is so cute. She is having separation anxiety when grandma is not in eye sight. She was fine yesterday but today she gets upset if I leave the room. She was doing this with DD too when I was there. I took her for a walk this morning. Then we went to the mall and the Disney Store. She was over stimulated to say the least. It was getting close to her nap time and she threw a tantrum me putting her in her stroller at Disney store. Grandma stayed cool and got her home. I put her in her crib and she say "ah!". She is a great baby. emoticon Yesterday, DS came out of the session. He said she treats me like I am intelligent and tells me scientifically what is happening with my brain. DS writes poetry and writes songs. He has always been very musical. Therapist is encouraging him to take that up again. I have said the same thing to him but it means more coming from her. He is upbeat and is going to his next session by himself. He told her when he has a panic attack - his back pain is so intense which intensifies everything. She fully understood what he is saying. What she does is validates what DS says. B/4 he went to his session, we talked. I told DS that you need to trust her and share what you are feeling. I guess he really told her things and he felt relieved. DS really loves Adrienne. He says she makes me happy. Have a great day!! emoticon

My daughter used to get panic attacks. Before they came on her arms would go numb . Her back muscles tense up so badly that it cuts off circulation to her arms and they would go numb and fall asleep. I remember taking to the teachers each year explaining that if her arms are raised up in a strange way that this is going on because it relives the pressure.

A good therapist can do wonders. I'm glad he feels positive about it. The hardest part was my realizing that there was no quick fix. She had to do it on her own. She does wonderful now but knows her triggers (normally biology) lol .

Awwww, I'm so glad that your DS had a good session and that Adrienne makes him happy. She does sound like a darling little one!

HUGS and hope the rest of her little visit goes as well. And definitely wishing your DS well with the therapy.
