I'm celebrating today, because I've been back on track for 14 days! Two whole weeks....and I feel like I'm on a roll! I'm really determined to keep going, and to make September truly the healthiest month of the year so far!

I messed up a lot in August. I got off track for almost three weeks, and took some steps backwards. But there was one bright shining moment of success in August....the moment when I finally got the strength to say "I need to get back to work. I need to start being my own hero again!"

"Be your own hero" has been my mantra ever since I originally started on my journey to steal my life back, on March 1 of last year. It keeps me motivated! There is so much power in that statement. To me, it means I will no longer just sit on my butt, wishing that someday I'll be fit and healthy. "Be your own hero" means to fight for what you want, and to also enjoy every step of the journey.

My other favorite mantra is "You are worth your best effort." I tell myself this every day, and I try to tell it to my Sparkfriends often, too. "Best effort" doesn't mean being perfect. It also doesn't mean putting forth a half hearted effort and then saying "Oh well, I guess I did my best." I know some days will be better than others, but if I can HONESTLY say that I've tried my best, then I know I can be proud of myself.

Why not find a mantra that motivates you, too? You can use one of mine, or think of one that is personal to you. Once you find one that really inspires you, repeat it to yourself every day. Just make sure its a POSITIVE mantra, because its really hard to live a positive, successful and healthy life if your self talk is negative.
