The little things

Thursday, September 05, 2013

Today I want to celebrate the little joys that keep me going.

First on my list is Ikea date night which is on the books for Friday. I'm not sure why this is so exciting. Maybe because there's a list of things I've been craving to buy but in 3 trips I haven't. It was smart to wait because I wasn't ready to put it all in place. But after a month in the new house, all I see are the little items I need to buy to organize and get things in place. What's more, there's a nearby restaurant hubby likes around the corner so we'll make an evening of it. And, yes, I'm planning a reward splurge at dinner as long as I stay on track until then. But it's the evening with hubby that holds more appeal than the food.

Another little thing on my mind is hunger. I've been fighting allergies and sinus ick so I haven't been craving food, but I've noticed I'm not sleeping as heavily and wake up with a rumbling tummy. It's not a bad thing. I know eventually I'll get used to sleeping on an empty stomach again, and a rumbling tummy is excellent motivation to get up.

So much is going on in my life right now I just need to hold onto the little things that keep me focused. That's my primary goal for right now. Just need to stick to it.
