in transit...

Thursday, September 05, 2013

and so our summer in sweden has come to an end, and we are in transit - a full day on the airplane yesterday, a night in seattle, and later today we pick up our beloved border collie pelle and head for the wilds of winthrop.

travel is always tough, but we ordered asian vegetarian meals on the plane which were actually delicious (and served before everyone else, i love "special meals" on planes!). i walked the length of the plane several times, and there was the connection in amsterdam (read mad dash from one end of airport to the other), but we still only managed about 3.8 miles for the day.

still, looking back at the summer it was pretty amazing! from june 28 to sept 3:

1,282,751 steps
4,301 floors
549.37 miles

(can you tell i love my fitbit?!)

now it's time to keep the momentum going, it's always tough with jet lag transitions to fall into the wrong (old, bad) habits.

what we left:

Hej! I spent 2 weeks in Sweden, it's so nice there in the summer. Sounds like you did a lot of exercise!

I like the jetlag coming back to North America from Europe because I wake up so early, without effort! Sadly it's dark early in the morning here now.

I guess I should finally get a FitBit, everyone's raving about them!

Har det bra!

Seems like Bohuslän... the "asian meal" sounds like sushi to me ;-)

Airports and airplanes create this "out of time and place" feeling for me. It's like time stops.

Welcome back to this side of the pond! Way to go with the fitness. I must get myself one of those fitbits.

I can't imagine being uprooted like that and leaving your precious fur baby behind. I am okay with short vacations, but spending a whole season away? That must be tough (and knowing what to pack for such a long stay too, I wonder how you do it!)
Well done on the steps! That fitbit is something else, I know a few other friends highly motivated by it too!
I didn't know you could special order meals on the plane. I have only taken one international flight though. All trips I have been on don't even serve meals now.
Keep up the great work!

You did a great job in Sweden! Impressive.

I love that picture of the boat. Good luck transitioning! You've got this down.

Hope you arrive safely in Winthrop. I love your boat picture. Yes, it takes awhile to get used to the time change. You did a great job on fitness in Sweden.

I did not know you could order Asian vegetarian on the plane.

Good luck with the transition. You're a long-time pro at this, so I know you have the strategies to stay healthy as you make the changes.

I just got my first fitbit yesterday in the mail, so just starting to use it today. Should be interesting!
