Just a FEW words!!!!

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I have wanted to blog lately, but couldn't figure out how to start-well, I've started! I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful fall! Here in the NW we are relishing the rain coming again as this summer has really dried things out! The grass is becoming green again and the air is just clearer. Of course, the weeds are happy, too, so that means keeping them down! But there's a positive side in that as weeding makes great exercise! This time of year I try to hit the bamboo shoots that have attempted to regenerate. We have blackberry bushes and bamboo that has been cut back, but will never completely die!!! My roses are back to smelling beautiful and I derive tremendous pleasure from just that one bush! It is a peace rose, yellow, often with peach or pink highlights and I love them dearly. The hummingbirds have decided to come back, as they kinda disappeared throughout the summer, real flowers taste better, I guess. As for my weight loss journey, well, there have been many bumps, some health-related, others emotional, but for the most part, I have been on a pretty smooth track for awhile. Some anticipation building as I travel back to OK for my daughter's wedding and then to CO for my husband's mom's memorial. Life happens!! I plan to purchase a cheap digital scale, so I can keep track of my weight during this extended vacation! Don't want to gain back all that I've worked hard to lose this summer! That's about it for me, gonna start crocheting new baby blanket tonight, so better write off. Enjoy your days, they are all God's gifts to us!!!!

Please stop and smell the roses for me too, won't you please? I love the scent of rose and seldom do I get the opportunity to smell them for myself. Sad, huh? Owwww how I love blackberries! They are one of my all time favs! That you have them growing where you live? Why I swear I could just hop on a plane and move right in! Then I could eat blackberries while smelling the roses for myself. Win! Win! All kidding aside, enjoy your daughter's wedding and let the memory of your mother-in-law remind you how very precious life is. You are on your path and making great strides towards making your goals a reality. I'm genuinely happy for you! Spark on my friend! emoticon

I hate seeing the rain coming! I love the hot dry weather, though I am glad to see the fires start coming under control!

You are right about the need for rain after a dry summer. Have enjoyed a couple days with solid rain showers in SW Idaho.

It is wonderful to think of all the different climates - terrain - weather - animals - birds we all have in this wonderful country that we call USA!

We have been having a wonderful time watching the hummingbirds war with each other over our feeder - we even stopped having it "red" as the bees were swarming to it, but now just the birds. But now we are having the Humming Bird Feeder "stealers' coming in - some kind of yellow finches - DH looked up what kind they are. They are fun to watch also.

Fall hasn't really started here yet - we just got done with 97 + degree weather - and everything is still hot - just not as hot. NO rain for quite awhile.

Oh my gosh, so crazy to think about the different terrain in the country. I would have never thought about having to trim the bamboo shoots. You're right, that weed pulling is great exercise.

Sounds like you had a very satisfactory summer!
Congrats on soon gaining a son-in-law.
Love the sound of your roses. The only roses that grow here in the cold north are nursery grown and have no smell or are the wild ones that smell heavenly but the blooms only last for a day or two.
