My 70 Calorie Chocolate Indulgence

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I've been really busy the past couple of days. . . . . and today was the day for a break, and a treat. My favorite treat.

I love chocolate. I know that some people don't like chocolate. . . but I cannot begin to relate to that. To deny it would be a great disservice to myself. I would be setting myself up for failure if I planned a future in which I could not eat chocolate.

So, I budget my chocolate addiction into my daily caloric allowance.

Each morning I budget one scoop of instant chocolate (90 calories) in my cup of coffee. Yum.

But this afternoon was my planned chocolate treat. . . . one serving of chocolate chips (30 chips = 70 calories) melted in the microwave for 45 seconds. Remove and stir until it's smooth and ooooey goooooey. (You can add flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, peanut butter, or whatever you like . . . . but I prefer it plain, just as it is.)

Savored just a little bit at a time, while still warm and creamy, it lasts a long time and has never failed to absolutely satisfy my chocolate craving.

And it's only 70 calories. For me, it's pure indulgence.

What's your favorite indulgence?

Chocolate or Chocolate / Peanut butter does it for me. I can't relate either to those who don't like it. Congratulations on your being able to budget so well.

Oh I loved the picture of the "chocolate" baby!

I love dark chocolate too, and love a few choc chips with peanuts as a treat!

I don't understand the whole "I don't like chocolate" concept. I like my Walden's chocolate syrup (0 calories) in Folgers Caramel Drizzle coffee. Delicious!

I can't say that I have a food indulgence right now. I'm following a strict keto diet to try to starve the cancer cells. My indulgence is taking long baths with candles burning. They relax me and soothe my soul.

I like chocolate too! Yesterday I have lunch with a friend and as we walked the streets we stopped at a coffee shop and I got a Mocha Latte. It was no a planned treat, but I loved every sip of it without guilt.

I like any kind of chocolate as long as lots of caramel is underneath it all, but I am being so good, hope it holds for the next 4 months, bad time of the year for me

I love chocolate but when I want a treat (and don't trust myself to start with the chocolate), I enjoy some plain Greek yogurt, sprinkled with strawberries and granola and even a little honey.

I'll have to try that! I have some dark chocolate chips in the fridge that I keep on hand when I feel the need for a chocolate fix...never thought of melting them. My other "indulgence" that I've recently discovered is the CocoLoco Chobani Flip - coconut greek yogurt with dark chocolate chips and almonds to top it. YUM! Not "low calorie" but at 170 cal and lots of protein, low fat, it tastes like something decadent but isn't really! My kind of treat :-).

I honestly don't miss chocolate. I haven't had it in over a year when I quit indulgence is Kashi Go Lean cereal with yogurt...half regular yogurt and half greek yogurt...good as any ice cream I have ever had and I love my ice cream with lots of crunchies in it so this fills the bill! But I think it is great the way you budget your chocolate into your day! emoticon

I love chocolate, too! My favorite is dark chocolate! I eat it in moderation, but I do eat it. I like to add a little dark chocolate syrup and whipped cream to my coffee. It's like a low calorie mocha! Here's to chocolate! emoticon

I am going to have to agree!! ........ We have been short staffed at work and when I say running all day . ......... I am not exaggerating ............ so yesterday I conked out at lunch, came to and felt like I had been run over by a train .......... But I ate 2-3 small tiny--bite size DARK chocolate candies (and did not feel guilt!!) ......... I also eat some dark choc nibbles w/ a few almonds (salt free) and I'm told it is a good snack (I just have a small amt) ............. Chocolate just is a wonder food I am sure!!! Glad I am not alone in this!! emoticon (this too is dark choc!) emoticon
