Well...I'm back from vacation! And while I love seeing my family, it's good to be HOME. I have like a weeks worth of blogging to catch up on. So lets dive right in with my "virtual" vacation "pictures".
Our flight left Las Vegas at 8:15 AM Tuesday (it was a FULL flight too!). We made good time into Portland. Mom and Jason picked us up (mom was late..but then she always is
). A stop for lunch (Kauai Island Grill), then the grocery store (Fred Meyers) for water and soda (for hubby), drop Jason off at his place, then to my mom's place. Later we went to Caleb's football practice.
Malia was there too!
As was Karry, my mom, and hubby. Plus we got to met the kids half brother Tucker! He's a great kid too. He's like 12 or 13 now. By the time he had to go back to his mom's he was calling me grandma (which is just fine with me!)
Over the next week, I replaced the garbage disposal (yes...I did all the work myself, including wiring it up), reattached the sink cabinet face (liquid nails and brackets), and two kitchen drawer fronts at the condo. Helped Jason buy a car (he now needs to get his license, his car is parked at Karry's until he does). Chuck (hubby) did a project for my mom, but he was a bit grouchy the whole time we were there.
The big event was Sat the 31st. My mom's early 80th birthday party! So many people showed up! People I didn't know and some I should have known but didn't. Some old guy came up and hugged me, kissed my cheek, asked how I was doing, said it was great to see me. etc. I just smiled and went along with him. Come to find out...he was my ex BIL!! I didn't know one of my best friends from HS when she showed up. It went on like most of the day. I did get to have a great visit with my cousin (I hadn't seen her in yrs, but I did know her when I saw her
). And one of my best friends from the kids swimming days was there. Her oldest daughter and Karry were swimming at the same time and mostly on the same teams. It was great catching up with everyone. But at the end of the day..I had to wonder...do I look that old too?
Mom had a blast...she was such a social butterfly all day! At first she didn't want people making any kind of speeches about her (she though it would be too much like a funereal), but she changed her mind and we had some great Barb stories. My sister I both talked about her, even Malia got up there and told everyone how she loved her Grandma Barb (Malia is her great grand daughter)! It lasted for 3 hrs before breaking up. We only had cake and drinks..but out of 3 full sheet cakes...only half the white one and half of one of the chocolate ones was gone. So as you can imagine...we ate a LOT of cake the rest of the trip!
Also on the trip...we had a Birthday dinner with my SIL and his family at Fuddruckers (I didn't really like the food), I had some See's Candy, we had pizza at mom's with her BIL and his family, my grandkids spent the night at my mom's with us, I bought school supplies for Caleb, Malia, and Tucker, and we ate a lot.
I did have a budget for the trip (for spending money) and I came home with some of it..that counts as a score!
Diet wise..it was such a good trip. I gained 5 pounds. No workouts while we were there. Although I could have done more walking. I even mapped out a mile course to walk, but I just was too busy. We took mom to dinner on Monday night at Orenco Station Grill. Food was good (from what I saw on Yelp we were lucky, place has a hit and miss rep) if somewhat pricey ($100 for three of us). Oh..Fri night we has a BBQ at my sister's place.
So Tuesday we flew back to Vegas. Like I said...it was good to be home. Although we had the taxi ride from He-double hockey sticks home from the airport!
So I'm back at work today. OT is over but I didn't know that. I was here at 6 AM..that means I get to go home at 3 today!
Hubby is back at work and happier now that he's home.
And to Calen...thank you fro checking up on me! It was great to talk to you!! Luv Ya Girl Friend!
So have a great rest of the day and I'll be back blogging everyday now!
