My new obsession -FITBIT- it is awesome because it syncs with Sparkpeople (yay!).
What I have learned in a few days:
I have sat on my butt way too much!
I am not sleeping very well...I get the right amount of hours but don't actually sleep the whole time (this is no surprise).
I need to eat less.
None of this is a surprise to me. This past weekend was spent in a small cabin in the Adirondacks with a lot of people. I could have gone for a run in the morning before the troops woke up but I didn't. The net result was a lot of time on my butt. It is also a place where I sleep on a pull out couch that is about 100 years old so sleep deprivation is full-on by the time we head home. Also food & drinks flow freely the whole time. Thank goodness we only go there a few times a year.
Today I vastly improved my calorie burn through going for an hour walk. Fitbit is motivating me to break up the day by doing 10 minute work outs here and there so that I can see my calorie burn climb. There is something about seeing it that makes me really want to do more.
Let's see if this helps long term. I plan on riding my bike to work tomorrow so I can see what that does to my fitbit page:)
It is too soon to recommend it to anyone but so far so good. The only complaint is that the wrist band falls off too easily. For an expensive piece of equipment the wrist band that holds the electronic component is low quality. If anyone gets one I have heard good things about the one that you clip on rather then wear around your wrist. Plus with that one you can see how many steps taken/calories burned right on the device itself. With the wrist band you have to sync it with the computer or your phone (if you have a compatible phone...I do not).
Off to give the FITBIT something to record. Ciao for now.
