unexpected cost

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I found out today that it is going to cost me 800.00 for training, testing to get my drivers license to be able to use a left foot excellerator. That doesn't include the 500.00 for the equipment for the car. Right now I am pretty discouraged. I really do not have that money and I do not know where I can come up with that money.

Keep looking! There has to be some organization that can assist you. I have MS and take a horribly expensive medication, and I found an organization to help me. Don't give up, you will find a way. In the meantime, if your city/town has a paratransit system, take advantage of it. No shame in riding the "short bus" emoticon I do sometimes.

Do some research online. There are organizations that help people who need special equipment to drive with the costs. I found them sometime ago when I was searching for other things for myself. Also, your public library may help you with the research (the information area) since they will have knowledge of various online databases to search with. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just an idea....It seems you are a veteran, right? (thank you for your service) Email all of the veterans' organizations for funding. They all provide assistance of some sort and I think you can get the money from one of these non-profits.

Have you talked to a social worker to see if there are any programs that will assist you?

I agree with the other poster, a benefit, or ask your church, too. Look online to see if there are any programs for you... I know there are ones for cancer bills to be paid,so worth searching online too.

A surprise like that can take the wind out of your sails for a while. But you'll recover from the shock fast, and I'm sure the answers will come flowing.

I am sorry to hear that. I am sure that with a clear head you will be able to find a solution to your obstacles. May I suggest a benefit, or raffle. My sister's and I did a food benefit to help my mom buy her prosthetic a few years back, and even though we didn't get the full amount that we needed, it brought us a step closer to reaching the amount.
